Learn how campuses can make reuse easy, visible, and community-driven. This webinar explores practical strategies for launching and sustaining reuse initiatives—from pop-up clothing swaps models to upcycling programs, permanent location, and engagement campaigns that normalize sharing over buying new.
Vanessa Slinger-Friedman, Professor of Geography at Kennesaw State University and coordinator of KSU’s OwlSwap initiative, will share lessons from building a comprehensive textiles and apparel reuse program that includes two free campus closets, a monthly clothing swap, upcycling opportunities, and community outreach. Sarah Knott, Sustainability Specialist at Marquette University, will discuss how Marquette’s reuse journey shifted from student-led pop-up events and educational programming to a permanent space on campus. Both strategies have helped the respective campuses to increase student participation, foster social responsibility, and turn individual actions into lasting culture change.
Attendees will leave with adaptable ideas, implementation tips, and engagement approaches to expand reuse efforts on their own campus or organization.
