For years the environmental movement has long ignored or failed to address issues of systemic racism, justice, diversity and equity within the world of recycling and waste management. Inequities in the system are embedded in our society and throughout our history. CURC recognizes that addressing these issues is necessary to foster a world that is both socially and environmentally just, empowers individuals and groups, and promotes economic equality, while preserving resources and biodiversity through efficient resource management. Attendees of today’s program will hear of ways to operationalize equity and inclusion in the recycling field and learn how your organization can integrate equity, justice, and best practices into recycling programs.
