Over the last decade many campuses have taken steps to improve their front-of-house collection programs as a way to increase diversion and reduce contamination. In the spring of 2024, CURC partnered with the Zero Waste Campus Council, AASHE and other organizations to survey college and university sustainability staff to better understand adoption trends with such practices as bin standardization, centralized collections from office and classrooms, and food waste collections from academic and administrative locations. This webinar reviewed the findings of the survey including observations about the impacts of these practices and lessons learned for implementing them. The program also reviewed separate research from Stanford University about staff and faculty attitudes and messaging techniques to gain their support.
