Event Description

Join us for CURC’s Virtual Vendor Showcase where you’ll discover an extensive array of cutting-edge zero waste solutions, top-notch service providers, and innovative developments aimed at transforming your campus into a beacon of sustainability. This online event connects zero waste solutions providers with higher ed customers by replacing the traditional in-person vendor expo format. This event offers a shared space dedicated for vendors to pitch their offerings to interested university and college staff members.

As campuses host a large number of people on site each day, trash thrown in bins and daily food waste is likely to be a significant contributor. Therefore, investigating methods to reduce the volume of this trash, while recycling into usable resources is a sensible start – and one which could not only save the environment, but significant sums of money too! At Advetec, we can empower you to reduce existing trash mass by 50% and volume by 70% in just 48 hours, stabilize waste so it will no longer produce methane, reduce CO2e emissions by 70%, and what’s more, waste will be converted into a coal replacement product known as Solid Recovered Fuel (SRF) – which can be used in applications like cement kilns and aviation fuel.
ecgo is a mobile app that uses AI to educate and engage college students to recycle. With a snap of a picture, students receive your campus guidelines at their fingertips and earn gift cards and discounts to shops when they recycle correctly.
Free Food Alert democratizes the solution to food waste and hunger on campus through email alerts and mobile smartphone push notifications. University students, faculty, staff, and other community members can sign up for a Free Food Alert account in order to receive email and mobile smartphone push notifications when there is free food available on campus. Any user can then opt-in to become a free food giveaway host who sends out alerts at the end of their campus events. The tool empowers University administrators with data insights regarding trends in food waste and insecurity on campus. Together, we can remediate food waste and help curb hunger on campus -- Let's do it!
Oscar Sort is the world’s first AI Recycling Assistant, designed to help universities improve recycling accuracy up to 96%, increase waste diversion rates, and reduce environmental impact across campus. How does it work? Simply show your item to Oscar, and it will guide you to the correct bin, making sustainability simple, engaging, and fun for students, staff, and visitors. Oscar also transforms waste bins into interactive learning hubs, featuring customizable digital signage, videos, trivia, QR codes, and campus-specific messages to create meaningful engagement and drive sustainability education. Over 24 universities, including MIT and ASU, use Oscar to drive zero waste and build a greener future.

Together, we have the power to get to zero waste, build sustainable futures, and stimulate local economies. We do so through a comprehensive lens that considers purchasing, markets, infrastructure, policies, training, waste quantity tracking and waste quality audits that focus universities on their biggest potential gains: greatest diversion increase, greatest cost savings, and greatest environmental impact.
